Meaningful activity is essential to provide a stimulating environment and promote mental wellbeing

The move to a care home is a life-changing event. It can be an anxious time for residents, moving to a new environment surrounded by people they don’t know. It is important that new residents feel included and welcomed in their new home as soon as possible and we use activities to help this process.

Our Activities Co-ordinator will take time to find out about hobbies and interests and encourage new residents to take part in our many activities as a way of building new friendships and improving both mental and physical wellbeing.

We know that different people have different interest and preferences so we put on a range of activities from group activities, visits from the community, trips out to quiet one-to-one time.

Our activities are co-ordinated by our Activity Co-ordinators and are a chance to try something new and to make new friendships that make life at Fairways rewarding and fulfilling.

The activities are designed to help residents be active, improve mood, combat loneliness and isolation and build social engagement. We provide a choice of activities for residents and always look to provide something that is suitable for their capabilities.

Our care philosphy

At Fairways Care Home our care philosophy is to provide a ‘home from home’ where residents receive individually tailored care, where dignity is respected and where each person’s interests are encouraged.

We cater for not only the physical needs of our residents but also focus on their social, emotional and mental needs.

Our aim is for all our residents to live their lives to the full.
